Originally created in 4 days for the 2025 GameMakers Toolkit Jam, Breakfast Burnout is a simple kart racer where you play as one of many cats in cereal bowl race cars as you are continually cheated out of first place by an AI racer that always overtakes you last second of the race.
I arranged a team of two artists, one designer, one musician/sound designer and another programmer besides myself to create the project for the game jam.
My focus was in programming the player character and AI racers movement, creating a standard kart racer control scheme and working with the designer on the team to continually tweak the controls until they were satisfying to drive. The artists were unable to make time to create animations for the character, so I made clever use of lerp functions to cause the character to squash and stretch to emphasize movements.
Outside of practical work on the project, I was also greatly involved in the planning and design decisions in the project.

Currently I am working on creating an online multiplayer mode for the game, which is currently working in engine but needs further polish before it can be released to the public.
